The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Research Program for Rain Enhancement report below outlines UAE efforts to become a global leader in weather modification experimentation (“research”). International partners include the United Nations (UN) World Meteorological Organization (WMO), National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Russian Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences and top universities around the world.
Projects combine Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), nanotechnology-based cloud seeding materials, Internet of Things (IoT) sensor networks, satellites, radar, and the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Other projects involve “cloud formation enhancement trials” such as “The Aerosol Layer Method (1 km² surface heating via aerosols)” and “The Jet-Aerosol Method (using retrofitted aircraft engines with seeding injection).”
