Global Precipitation EXperiment (GPEX)
21 January 2026 | ZeroGeoengineering.com| The Global Precipitation EXperiment (GPEX) is part of the United Nations (UN) World Meteorological Organization (WMO) World Climate Research Program (WCRP), which was first discussed in 2020 among agencies of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP). According to their website, the WCRP “Years of Precipitation (YoP)” campaign involves coordinated global field campaigns, data development, and prediction experiments. Additionally, YoP coincides with the 2018-2028 United Nations (UN) “International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development.”
Satellites, airborne facilities, surface radar, ground-based gauge measurements, data mining technologies, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are referenced as part of the global system for weather experimentation and monitoring. Note ICAMS is the lead agency for atmospheric experimentation under the Trump Administration, which was led by the USGCRP during the Biden Administration. ICAMS is “the formal mechanism by which all relevant Federal departments and agencies coordinate implementation of policy and practices.”
Global Precipitation EXperiment(GPEX) Multistakeholder Workshop
“Bringing together scientists, space agencies, national services, and research institutions to share insights, spark collaboration, and shape the future of global precipitation research.”
