According to the report, Federal coordination functions are through the Interagency Meteorological Coordination Office (IMCO), serving as the administrative headquarters of ICAMS, pursuant to the Weather Research and Forecasting Innovation Act (Public Law No. 115-25, Title IV, sec. 402). Proposed FY 2026 budget includes appropriations for weather and air chemistry research, NEXRAD, phased array radar, satellites via the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), advancing artificial intelligence (AI), telecommunications systems, high performance computing initiatives, and uncrewed systems. Collaborative efforts involve “Federal agencies and entities, state and local governments, academia, and the private sector.”
