Federally Funded Atmospheric Chemistry Field Campaigns
3 February 2025 | ZeroGeoengineering.com |The National Science Foundation is a long-time proponent and funder of atmospheric experimentation and a member agency of the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP). The USGRCP is comprised of 15 federal member agencies, facilitating collaboration of federally coordinated national and global programs.
The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation and managed by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR).

“The Atmospheric Chemistry Remote Sensing and Prediction (ACRESP) section at ACOM includes several groups with expertise in satellite and ground-based remote sensing measurements of atmospheric composition, clouds and aerosols, and their combination with chemical models.”

“The Community Atmosphere Model with Chemistry (CAM-chem) is a component of the NCAR Community Earth System Model (CESM) and is used for simulations of global tropospheric and stratospheric atmospheric composition. CAM-chem uses the MOZART chemical mechanism, with various choices of complexity for tropospheric and stratospheric chemistry.”

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center, sponsored by NSF. NCAR is located in Boulder, Colorado which is a center point for atmospheric experimentation. Link
