NOAA SABRE Research Underway – Atmospheric Chemistry and Aerosols
October 21, 2023 | ZeroGeoEngineering.com | The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is one of the leading federal agencies engaged in solar radiation modification (SRM) efforts. Such interventions may involve the deliberate polluting of Earth’s atmosphere. The Chemical Sciences Laboratory (CSL) is one of the NOAA agencies receiving funding by Congress to participate in atmospheric experimentation programs.
According to The National Weather Modification Policy Act of 1976 (P.L. 94-490), the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other government agencies are authorized to engage in atmospheric and weather modification research and in international atmospheric science activities.
CSL‘s website states: SABRE is a NOAA Earth’s Radiation Budget (ERB) Initiative Project.
“This project is an extended airborne science measurement program utilizing the NASA WB-57 high-altitude research aircraft to study the transport, chemistry, microphysics and radiative properties of aerosols in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS)…”
