Two methods, glaciogenic seeding (dispersing silver iodide aerosol from ground generators or aircraft, or dry ice from aircraft, into a cloud containing supercooled liquid water) and hygroscopic seeding (dispersing salt aerosol by aircraft into the base of a convective updraft), have been employed depending on the physical structure and underlying dynamics of the targeted clouds.
